Zelda fans all over the world are excited for the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Many of those fans will be securing their copy in advance with a pre-order. Depending on where that pre-order is made, it is customary for a small bonus to be included, incentivizing the order to be placed and maintained until release. Amazon’s Japanese storefront is including a somewhat odd bonus item with pre-orders of Tears of the Kingdom: a spoon.

The spoon included with the pre-order is a stainless steel cutlery spoon. Engraved on the front of the handle is the iconic Hylian crest and the series’ namesake. While certainly unusual, this is a pretty neat bonus. It’s typical for pre-order bonuses to be novelty items that are briefly amusing before becoming superfluous. A spoon has a practical use that can be implemented repeatedly and could be the delivery system for a lifetime of soups, cereals, and ice cream sundaes.

This spoon is included with pre-orders of both the base game and the collector’s edition, though the latter is sold out. The price for the standard edition is ¥7,920 or approximately $60.00 USD. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases May 12th, 2023.
