This is a list of traps and enemies found in The Legend of Zelda.
Overworld
Armos
- Main article: Armos
Armos are statues scattered mostly throughout the mountains of Hyrule. They remain sedentary until touched, but once touched, they will begin to move around the screen at one of two speeds. It is impossible to tell at which speed they will move until they've been touched. Beneath them, it is possible to find hidden shops or secret rupees. They pose little threat, as they only do one half-heart of damage.
"A soldier who has been turned into a stone statue. He moves and attacks if touched by Link. He has a fair amount of attacking power."

Boulder
- Main article: Boulder
Boulders are little more than rocks that fall in groups of three from Death Mountain. Despite how terrifying they may seem, they do very little damage. They are impossible to kill, so it's best to simply avoid them.
"These rocks crumble off Death Mountain and fall down to attack Link. He can't destroy these natural nuisances."

Ghini
- Main article: Ghini
Ghinis are ghost enemies found in the graveyard. They're defeated pretty simply using just a few sword slashes.
"The ghost who lives in the graveyard. There are two types. There are Ghinis who are there from the beginning of the game, and those who appear when Link touches the gravestones. Ghinis have about the same attacking force as Armos."

Leever
- Main article: Leever
Red Leevers are found mostly in the deserts of Hyrule, burrowed in the sand. They dig themselves out from a random point and follow Link. They are rather weak and common enemies, and are easy to defeat.
With twice the strength of their red counterparts, Blue Leevers burrow in and out of the sand. They have a bit more stamina than Red Leevers, and they don't follow Link, so they are more difficult to defeat.
"They live In the ground and eat up the energy of creatures that approach them. Blue Leevers are a little stronger, but the red ones don't have much attacking power."

Lynel
- Main article: Lynel
Red Lynels appear around Death Mountain, and can shoot sword beams similar to Link's. Theses sword beams can only be blocked with the Magical Shield. Their attacks do significant damage, and fighting them is made even harder by their long range and speed. Fight them using Link's sword, and they will usually drop either a heart or a fairy.
Blue Lynels are essentially Red Lynels with more stamina. They are probably the hardest overworld enemies in the entire game.
"The guardian who attacks all those who come near Death Mountain. Watch out! He's pretty strong, and Link's little shield can't stop his sword."

Moblin
- Main article: Moblin
Red Moblins use spears as their main method of attack. They are rather simple to defeat, as the spears can be blocked by Link's shield.
Blue Moblins are exactly the same as the Red Moblins, but they require more hits to kill them.
"A bulldog-like goblin who lives in the forest. He attacks by throwing spears. A little bit meaner than Octorok."

Octorok
- Main article: Octorok
Red Octoroks spit out easily deflectable rocks at Link. Simply slash at them with Link's sword while standing directly in front of them to block those projectiles.
Blue Octoroks are just like Red Octoroks, but they require more hits to kill.
"A type of octopus that lives above ground. There are two types, red and blue. Watch out for the blue ones. They're mean. They spit out rocks at Link."

Peahat
- Main article: Peahat
Peahats fly around all over Hyrule. It's best to just avoid them, as the only time Link can kill them is when they are at a complete stop.
"Has little attacking power. This is the ghost of a flower that bounces and flutters around the place. Link can eliminate it only when it's standing still."

River Zora
- Main article: River Zora
River Zoras are very common enemies in the waters of Hyrule. They shoot fireballs at Link that can only be deflected with the Magical Shield, and then go underwater. The easiest way to defeat them is to have full health and use sword beams. Otherwise, it is optimal to just avoid their attacks.
"Half·fish, half·woman who lives in the water. When she sticks her head out of the water she lets out a ball that Link's little shield can't hold back."

Tektite
- Main article: Tektite
Red Tektites are spider-like enemies that hop around Hyrule. They are most often found on the edges of the map, and are rather easily defeated with the sword.
Blue Tektites can be a bit of a nuisance, as they take more hits to kill than the red ones. They are also defeated easily with the sword.
"These spidery things jump about allover the place. Red ones move about a lot and blue ones move only a little. Tektites have little fighting power."

Blade Trap
- Main article: Blade Trap
Blade Traps are less enemies and more obstacles. They sit in corners and do not move unless Link crosses their paths. They cannot be killed, but rarely pose a threat if Link is moving quickly enough to avoid them.
"Somebody placed these In the labyrinth a long time ago. They suddenly attack Link when he approaches them. So you've really got to watch out!"

Bubble
- Main article: Bubble
Red Bubbles are only found in the Second Quest. They are impossible to kill, and they float around the room ricocheting off of walls. If Link is hit by one, he loses the ability to use his sword until he is hit by a Blue Bubble, drinks a potion or visits a fairy fountain. They do no damage, but are still a major annoyance.
Blue Bubbles are usually found in the same room as Red Bubbles or in a nearby room. If Link touches a Red Bubble, he must touch a Blue Bubble before he is able to use his sword again. Although they do no damage, they cannot be killed, and create a major inconvenience, so they are better off avoided.
Flashing bubbles jinx Link, causing him to not be able to use his sword for a short period of time. Drinking a potion or playing the Recorder can cure the curse immediately.
"The spirit of the dead. When it clings onto Link, he won't be able to unsheath his sword for a while."

Darknut
- Main article: Darknut
Red Darknuts are tough dungeon enemies that can't be hit from the front, as their shields are always up. They can only be killed by slashing at them from their sides or backs.
Blue Darknuts act exactly the same as Red Darknuts, only they are harder to kill.

Gel
- Main article: Gel
Gels are extremely easy to defeat. They have no actual attack other than making contact with Link, so it's easiest to just keep an appropriate distance and kill them with the boomerang. Alternatively, one sword slash will also take them down.
"Jelly-like monsters that walk about bouncing around in the labyrinths. When Link cuts Zol, it splits into two Gels. Gel has little attacking power, but Zol has twice the power of Gel."

Lanmola
- Main article: Lanmola
Red Lanmolas are pesty, and require Link to get rid of each body part and then the head. The most effective weapon is the Magical Rod.
Blue Lanmolas are surely some of the toughest enemies in the game. They only appear in the final dungeon, and they are much faster than the red ones. Use either the Magical Rod or sword to defeat them.

Patra
- Main article: Patra
Patras are difficult enemies found only at the very end of the game. The baby Patras flying around him are the real bother, as Link has to kill all of them to fight the main body. Fighting a Patra is easier at full health, when Link can just shoot the smaller ones with sword beams. Without full health, just take caution in attacking them.
"The Patra attack in groups, in two types of formations. Both formation groups are strong. So be on your toes!"
