Zelda NES Prototype Available on eBay

Pictured to the left is the only Legend of Zelda NES prototype in the entire world, and for a mere $150,000 it can be yours! Of course, one-day shipping is free. The person who currently owns the cartridge and is selling it describes it as “THE single most impressive item in video game collecting in my humble opinion.” Hit the jump to learn more about this rare, rare piece of Zelda and Nintendo history.

Immediately noticeable when looking at the pictures on eBay is that the cartridge is yellow with a very basic sticker with a serial number and the text “The Legend of Zelda.” The actual game  probably doesn’t differ at all from the game that was actually released back in ’87, according to the seller. Included with the prototype, the lucky buyer will also receive a VGA copy of The Legend of Zelda.

This game was definitely a revolutionary point in gaming. Not only did it introduce saving your game, but it introduced everybody to the beloved franchise that is Zelda. It was the first time we took control of Link’s sword and shield, the first time we slayed the evil beast Gannon and it was the first time we rescued the princess Zelda.

This is a great piece for Zelda and/or video game collector. Is it worth $150,000? Probably not, but somebody will pay the price. Would you? Let us know in the comments below!
