Throughout the many games in the Zelda franchise we have seen many different versions of Hyrule. There are many changes throughout the world in the different games with some being set in a place completely different to Hyrule. In Link’s Awakening our hero traversed the mysterious island of Koholint on a quest to awaken the wind fish. In Oracle Of Ages and Oracle Of Seasons Link traveled through Labrynna and Holodrum respectively in order to reverse the chaos caused by Veran and General Onox. In Majora’s Mask Link ends up in the land of Termina, where he must manipulate time in order to undo the problems that were cased by Skull Kid. In A Link Between Worlds Link travels back and forth through Hyrule and in order to save the Seven Sages. Basically, the point I am trying to make here is that there is so much variety in the Zelda universe that there has got to be at least one world that you enjoyed the most and would love to revisit in a new game or a remake.

In this week’s Zelda Dungeon Talks, various staff members will share with us the world they would love to revisit most and why. As always feel free to leave your own response down in the comments.

Question: What worlds from any previous Zelda game would you like to revisit and why?

Personally, I would like to visit the world of The Minish Cap. It isn’t one of the more popular Zelda games and I have always thought it would be great to get a remake for it, but what I have in mind is completely different from the original game. I think it would be awesome if The Minish Cap was remade in HD like The Wind Waker with the same 3D Toon Link and everything. The world would seem so much more expansive and it would be a fresh take on a game that was a bit underrated.

The Sacred Realm, as far as I can remember, has only been definitively visited once in the series: in Ocarina of Time, when inside the Light Temple. The only other times you can technically say The Sacred Realm is visited is Lorule’s Sacred Realm and A Link to the Past’s Dark World, but those don’t really count. I want to see the Sacred Realm for real this time, not like in Ocarina of Time where we only see the inside of a building. I want to see what the Golden Land looks like out in the wilderness. I bet it is beautiful, and we should be able to see it all for once. It was, after all, where the Triforce resided for a long time, so we should be able to traverse somewhere that important at least once.

I would love to see some more of the Minish Realm, more as wandering through parts of gigantic Hyrule at the height of a Minish. I think that opens up an interesting method of having more areas to explore while not having to rely on a gargantuan map with regions that require long travels to get around to. Link could shrink down and then enter a secret area behind a mouse hole in Kakariko, or underneath a tree. This could have secret areas, minidungeons, or even villages appear almost anywhere on the map. You would have to keep a close eye on any small knothole on a wall or a small bush. This could easily bring back the secret finding element of the original NES game.

I’d go with the Silent Realm. When I first entered the Silent Realm in Skyward Sword I thought it was just a rehash of the tear collection sections from Twilight Princess but having those statues come after you is some of the most edge-of-the-seat tense moments ever. It would be great to venture further into the Silent Realm and find out just what those statues are and, seeing as it’s a spiritual place rather than physical like the Sacred Realm, what it would be like if other people were able to access it.

I actually wouldn’t mind revisiting Termina, or something similar. I’ve always leaned towards those theories out there that Termina is a realm created by Link’s subconscious, and that each individual character he met on his adventures throughout Ocarina of Time have a totally different and almost contradicting role in this world conjured up in Link’s head. There are so many psychological barriers you need to worm through in the world of Termina, and I’d like to see something new and different, but centered on that concept.
