320px-Kakarikowindmill-e136555400032911131111Zelda Reorchestrated is one of the greatest parts of the musical Zelda fanbase, and one of my favorite Zelda tracks, Dragon Roost Island, is perfectly orchestrated by the team. For some reminder of what the original The Wind Waker theme sounds like, check out this video before reading on.

Zelda Reorchestrated actually has two versions of the theme, their original orchestration and a redux, and both have their merits. So hit the jump to listen!

Here is the first version Zelda Reorchestrated did of the theme.

And the redux.

In many ways the redux is more faithful to the original, especially with the opening, however the first orchestration maintains the flute sound, whereas partway through the redux, an èrhú (pronounced “are-hoo”) sounding instrument is introduced, which gives the orchestration a different mood. The clashes are also not as violent in the redux, but both fit their respective pieces.

If you like these, you can of course go to the ZREO website and check out some more of their music, however for the rest of their The Wind Waker project, head on over to this page.

What did you think of the original theme and the orchestration? Let us know in the comments!
