Breath of the Wild has one of the most amazing open worlds in the history of video games. Hyrule is filled with diverse and distinct landscapes, including landmarks like Lake Hylia, the Hebra Mountains, and the Gerudo Desert.  These areas beg to be mapped and charted by the player! That’s why it’s not surprising that some fans have jumped on that idea already!

Recently, Making Things With Cameras uploaded an extensive Youtube video on how to make a detailed topographic map of Breath of the Wild’s landscapes. Topographic maps focus on the physical and artificial features of a landscape. These maps often use color to differentiate between the heights and size of different landmarks and landscapes.

This video is great because it’s extremely detailed. It gives insight into the entire creation process, from the conception of the landscape, to it’s completion. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are truly amazing! This map would be an amazing addition to any Zelda fan’s collection.
