If you’re curious as to when the development of Twilight Princess HD actually started, you’re in luck. An interview regarding the HD remake with Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma reveals this information. As it turns out, when Nintendo decided to hand off the project to Tantalus, the company started work in late 2013.

STACK: “When was the decision made to create a HD remake for Twilight Princess? How long does a process such as this usually take?”

Aonuma: “The decision was finalized when it was decided that Tantalus would collaborate for this title, and the project started at the end of 2013 with the verification of technology. The process for such decisions varies depending on the situation and specific project, so unfortunately there’s no solid answer.”

Do you think over two years was an ample time to polish off Twilight Princess for a re-release on the Wii U? Tell us what you think in the comments.
