The Wind Waker HD back up to $60

tww_hd_logoWe recently reported on the fact that The Wind Waker HD will be priced at $49.99, ten dollars less than the standard Wii U game price tag. Although the change in price was a pleasant surprise to many who would have bought the game without the lowered price, the price of the game on Amazon has once again changed to its initial pricing at $59.99. Hit the jump to find out more.

Although it appeared that the standard pricing of $59.99 was changed in an effort to pull in sales because of the game’s status as an enhanced remake, this brief spell of the game selling for ten dollars less than the recommended retail price for new Wii U games quickly cut short as the pricing was changed to reflect the original pricing. The reasoning for this is unclear, as is the exact reason why the game was ever meant to sell for $49.99. If I had to guess, I’d say that Nintendo would prefer the game to be seen as a proper standalone game in the Wii U’s catalogue, as opposed to a simple “cheap” remake which is already readily available on the GameCube, as would be inferred from the lowered price tag.

Despite the change to the original pricing however, there is a chance that those who have already pre-ordered the game would benefit from the brief lapse in pricing regularity. According to Amazon’s Pre-order Price Guarantee, if the price of a product changes at all between the placement of the order and the release of the product, then the buyer will be charged for the lowest price the product appeared at. This means that if you pre-ordered the game before or during the time when the price was displayed as $49.99, then there is a good chance that you will ultimately be unaffected by the return to the original, higher price.

But what do you think? Has this pricing change affected your decision to purchase the game? Does ten dollars really make that much of a difference? Tell us in the comments below.
