Director Wes Ball recently shared some of his thoughts about his vision for the upcoming Zelda movie in a new interview with magazine Total Film, as reported by Gamesradar.

“I have this awesome idea,” Ball tells Total Film in our new issue out on Thursday March 28, which features The Fall Guy on the cover. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long freakin’ time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be… I want to fulfil people’s greatest desires. I know it’s important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape.”

Ball also added that he “want[s] to live in that world,” saying that it should feel like escapism. “That’s the thing I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical.”

Wes Ball, best known for the Maze Runner trilogy of films, was named director of the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie last November. His latest film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is scheduled to release on May 10th, 2024.

Gamesradar hints that there is more to the interview in the latest issue of Total Film, but is not specific on whether Ball shared more information about the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie. The issue goes on sale Thursday, March 28th.
