Recently, site copy editor and writer Paul Grzelak wrote an article about why he believes amiibo won’t have a negative impact for Zelda U.

As a counterpoint, The Boss Man himself, Nathanial Rumphol-Janc wrote a separate article containing his opinions on why amiibo may be disastrous for Zelda U, as well as future titles. It seems this debate gained more attention than anticipated, as popular website Design & Trend has based their latest poll on the two articles in question…

In the last few years in gaming, linearity has become something of an ugly word: it is considered bad design to have a linear game and players absolutely need freedom because it is thought to be better than a linear experience by its very nature. Given the immense success of linear games such as The Last of Us this is proven to be incorrect, yet the call for nonlinear games exists. In games such as the Zelda series exploration is…

When it comes to stories set in a medieval or pseudo-medieval setting, soon or later you’ll run into dragons. Either in the flesh or just referenced, there is something primordial, something alluring to large serpentine monsters. Many cultures who have had contact of some kind with scaled creatures from snakes to crocodiles have eventually developed a large and mighty variant of it: from the Chinese Dong Fang Qing Long (The Azure Dragon of the East), the Iranian Zahhak (known as…

You have a very important mission ahead of you… I will wait here. That’s what we princesses have always done. From what I understand, it’s kind of a family tradition. – Princess Zelda (Spirit Tracks) If it were to be told as a legend, The Legend of Zelda is pretty much always the tale of a princess in peril rescued by a brave hero in green who vanquishes evil and restores her to her rightful throne. A few times she’s…

Zelda has repeatedly taken on the dual-map style, with a main world and a mirrored world that is usually accessable later on in the game. It was an idea introduced early on in the series, and has reoccured several times, even making its way into the two most recent Zeldas. The style has been used in many ways, including different worlds and time periods, but is it beneficial? Is it something that has been done well, and, more importantly, should…

Welcome back one and all to another one of our Weekly Features: ZI Votes! Every week, I’ll put out a new poll relating to The Legend of Zelda for all of you lovely people to take part in. Think of it like our ongoing Zelda Versus feature, but less suspenseful. Last week I asked you whom you are most looking forward to playing as in Hyrule Warriors, and the results were somewhat surprising…although I imagine they would change in light of this week’s reveals. After nearly 1200 votes, Link came out as…

Browsing the internet today I came upon a very interesting piece at US Gamer. They are asking folks to debate over which group of developers have crafted the absolute best Zelda games. They break down the series into eras, with Nintendo EAD under Miyamoto, Animation Magic (Wand of Gamelon, Faces of Evil), Viridis (Zelda’s Adventure), Nintendo EAD under Eiji Aonuma, Flagship, and Nintendo Software Development Group 3. Heck, many of you may not even be aware that Nintendo SDG3 was currently the group in charge of Zelda, as often we keep giving Nintendo EAD the credit – which is technically incorrect. Nintendo SDG3 actually works under the overarching Nintendo EAD, so it is understandable why the terms get interchanged.

Anyways, it is an interesting question and one I pondered myself. Thus, we’re doing a special today where we will run two polls – one to determine which development group crafted the best games, and then one where we ask what Producer/Director combination crafted the best games. Head inside.

The 6th matchup in the ZVS companion series is a DS-centric one, featuring companions from Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks: Princess Zelda and Linebeck. It’s the princess in her ghostly form against the comical coward sailor Linebeck. The winner is up to you! Head inside and vote!

Prominent gaming news magazine, Game Informer, has released the results of an online poll on their website, which asked readers whether they preferred 2D or 3D Zelda games. Find out whether the magazine’s online readership prefers Hyrule in two  or three dimension after the jump.

A few weeks ago the folks at Dorkly conducted a poll to rate the top ten greatest Zelda games of all time. After getting nearly 200,00 votes they have finally posted the results of that poll in an article titled “10 Greatest Zelda Games in History”. They ave separated it into two parts, first there is a simple image lineup of all the games displaying them in order. Then there is the much more detailed article giving a brief description…
