We know the game scored a 37/40 in Famitsu, but now we know why. Really when it comes to reviews, the why is far more important than the numerical score itself. I am glad we now have some context, and, in general, they seemed to really enjoy the experience. Famitsu does their reviews a bit different than everyone else: four people get to weigh in and each of them grade the game out of 10. Then they combine the score to get the total score out of 40 possible points. That being said, what did they have to say…

Are you curious what all the various outfits and color pallets are for your favorite characters in the new Smash Bros. game? While Famitsu doesn’t feature all of the characters, they do feature a lot of them and there are some never before seen coloration and costume changes to be seen, combined with a slew of screenshots and a bunch of text that I obviously can’t read. The spread is a bit big to get our translation team on it in at timely matter, but if there is anything new discovered we will be sure to let you know. For now, check out the spread for yourself…

Famitsu’s score is in for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, and it received a high mark at 37/40. The scoring went 10/9/9/9. Honestly I am not big into the actual review score, but the context of the written review that goes with them. Given this is from Famitsu, we’ll probably never hear anything more about the review outside of the score. While it’s not the highest reviewed 3DS game (Kid Icarus: Uprising got a perfect score from Famitsu), it still puts it among the top rated games on the platform in Japan. There is really little doubt the game is going to sell extremely well.

For those unaware, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS releases in Japan in just 7 days. As such it’s natural that various gaming related features will be popping up in support of the launch. Famitsu Magazine is no exception, as the latest edition included a guide to the game. I feel it serves more like an advanced advertisement brochure honestly, but it serves a good purpose as a final preview before the game releases and we get the final review. We have 10 scans from this guide included for those of you who can’t get enough Smash in your life…

If you can’t tell around here, we really love that Shulk has been added to the Super Smash Bros. roster. In many ways it feels like vindication for a new JRPG series, and it may be possible that this is a series that will continue to grow and be around for a long time. At least, that’s what we all hope for, as Xenoblade Chronicles X could actually sell more than the first game, even on a system that has a much smaller install base. I have no idea what information is contained within these scans, but they are awesome anyways…

With under two weeks until the Japanese release of the 3DS iteration, the news about the next Smash Bros. game has been nonstop. While this week’s heavy hitters on that front included a new character reveal and the return of a favorite of ours here at ZI, Famitsu has still been churning out news about the characters who have already been revealed. This week, we got four scans featuring the fighters from the Pokémon franchise, as well as a large number of the creatures who will be brought into the fray via the Poké Ball and Master Ball items…

As if the potential leak today wasn’t enough, we have the latest scans out of Famitsu Magazine that feature Smash Bros. today. The scans themselves primarily focus on Meta Knight and Pacman, and we’re happy to have three of the four pages translated for your viewing. I don’t inherently see a lot of new information here, but it’s still a solid read and worth your time if you happen to be a big Smash fan…

A few days ago we got some amazing Famitsu scans about Hyrule Warriors and some of the game most important topics. We posted a short preview, but it’s important to point out that a part of this info is also shown in the Hyrule Warriors Japanese Website, so we already had some of it translated. If you haven’t read it yet, here you will…

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Hyrule Warriors. These spoilers include details about the story.

We’ve been sitting on this information for a couple days because we’re trying to compile a more detailed post based on outside translations and our internal team, but I figured the least we could do is detail some new story details that we’ve known about but neglected to share up to this point. One of the more interesting points is described in the title, but there are many more details that will naturally be of interest to those who don’t mind spoiling the surprise…

Last week, we reported that Famitsu had reviewed Hyrule Warriors, scoring it rather favorably. At that time, all we had were the positive scores, so we were left in the dark about exactly why the reviewers enjoyed the game so much. Thankfully, the full translations for the written evaluations have come out, giving us insight into what could make this game worthwhile for those who aren’t quite sold on it yet. Generally speaking, the reviews tend to believe that…
