Time and time again, Zelda fans prove they are some of the most passionate and creative followers on the planet. This animation project is no different.

Tumblr user Pencil Test creates art for dozens of video game franchises. Yet he’s never created a moving picture as gorgeous as this. The artist is working on an animated Zelda project in Maya, After Effects, and Photoshop. He’s combining actual photos with a Minish-sized hero of Hyrule. He says he’s working on a short film, but right now all we have are a few animated gifs.

The picture to the left is only a taste of what’s to come. Watch the animation in motion, as well as a second gif, after the jump.

Link has been around for a very long time and the timeline that was put out can be a little confusing at times, so the people at BuzzFeed has created an animated walkthrough of the timeline with Navi as your guide to make it easier to understand. She takes you through a very detailed journey of every Zelda game and places it in the timeline for you to see. Hit the jump to see!

The Zelda fanbase is constantly talking about it; the creation of a movie or series based on our favorite franchise is a hotly debated topic. Over twenty-five years of popularity, and the closest thing we’ve had was an infamously terrible cartoon (although this isn’t everyone’s opinion). Recently, game director Eiji Aonuma made a statement saying that a Zelda movie would require a 3DS to view, if one were ever made, and it seems we’re getting pretty close. Nintendo announced today…

In case the Zelda CD-i games needed to be  ostracized even further than they already have been, Zelda series Director Eiji Aonuma has explained why the often-mocked trilogy wasn’t mentioned in Hyrule Historia, the art book meant to provide a comprehensive history of all things Zelda. Aonuma apparently believes the games simply don’t fit in.

We have been showing quite a few side-by-side comparisons for The Wind Waker HD and the original by GameXplain lately. This is not a bad thing, for they have been doing a fantastic job with it. Presented to you today is another comparison video, which shows the differences in animation and the speed in which they occur.

Finding treasure in the sea, using the Grappling Hook, and changing the direction of wind have had their animation time significantly decreased. Once I saw the difference, I wondered how I even put up with the original game. Times for speed runs of this game are sure to decrease, because they cut most of the animation speed in half.

Recently there has been a fair share of talk about the titular princess of The Legend of Zelda starring in her own game. Even Eiji Aonuma has said he might consider making Princess Zelda a main protagonist if enough people support the idea. What would it look like if Zelda took care of herself for once instead of letting Link do all the hard work? Watch this fan animation created by YouTube user Charles Hamwey to find out after the jump.

The guys on Machinima have made an interesting new stop motion animated video staring Link on another adventure. The video is made up of over 4000 images using the Skyward Sword Link action figure and features sounds and music from the games. This video also includes a number of guests from other series and some decent special effects. It is titled Stage 1: The Knife Lord and promises to be the first episode in a series. Many Zelda fans probably think they could smoke the competition in a Zelda Trivia Gameshow. However, when you’re up against the Hero of Time himself, things probably get a little more… challenging. YouTuber Anthony Fazio, who created the by now well known video of Link learning how to “absorb” heart containers, has written up another Zelda animation. Contestants Charlie, Anthony and.. eh… notLink… are pitted against each other for the grand prize of fifty thousand rupees. Make the jump to…

A group by the name of Aeipathy Industries has reached out to the fans via Kickstarter to try to improve a project they’ve started called Zeldamotion. The creator of the project, Sean Heitmeyer originally started this because he wanted to animate the Zelda manga series. After the fans showed a great response to an animated comic he made, he decided to make his hobby into a full animation with voice actors and completely original artwork. This is where he needs…

Welcome to another fanart spotight. Today we will be looking at two amazing animations by 3D artist Chad Jordan. In 2010 he created a beautiful and accurate model of the Master Sword in Blender along with a complete enviorment built around it, and then released an animation on Youtube showcasing his creation from all sides. He didn’t stop there however; just last week he released a new video featuring his top 5 memorable swords in video game history and with…
