Skyward Sword Website Updated

It seems the official Skyward Sword website update was a bit later than usual today. However, there is plenty of goodies for us all. For one, it reveals a brand new area in the game that the public has seen very little of thus far. I don’t want to spoil anything right here on the front page, so if you want the details, make the jump to check it out.

The new area is referred to as Thunderhead and it is a floating ancient land protected by clouds. Fans have been wondering what exactly was going on at the northwest part of the overworld map within the dome of clouds and now we know. Thunderhead is also the location where a boss battle takes place with the Wind Fish-like enemy that we’ve seen in several trailers thus far, whose name we’ve roughly translated as something like “Master Narisha”. It seems something is wrong with Narisha, so perhaps you must save this whale creature from some evil. You can see the scenery artwork of Thunderhead below. The area apparently cannot be entered with normal means, but there’s a lighthouse-type structure within, so perhaps this is involved in finding your way inside the dome of clouds.


Some new elements of Skyloft have also been shown, including Link acquiring the Bug Catching Net, Link sleeping in his bed to change it to night when Keese attack, and venturing to the nearby Pumpkin Island where you can buy Pumpkin Juice. We also see Link gathering the star-shaped “Gratitude” (this name is also roughly translated), which is given as a reward for tasks like helping an injured bird. It is very likely this will relate to the sidequest that you do to help the demon Batreaux become a human.

There are also tons of new screenshots, artwork, and a few new videos of not just the Thunderhead area, but also of Skyloft. We’ll be updating this post with video embeds as soon as they are available. For now, you can just head on over to the official website to take a look.
