Skyward Sword Pre-Order Numbers: 3 Weeks To Launch

The newest pre-order numbers are now in for the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and we have mixed results to report. Last week Skyward Sword picked up 71,354 pre-orders in North America, which is up from 68,675 the previous week. Skyward Sword now has a total of 592,854 pre-orders thus far. With two more updates to this chart, I suspect that Skyward Sword is likely to end up garnering between 750,000 and 800,000 pre-orders for here in North America alone. We also finally have our first look at the Japanese Pre-Orders of Skyward Sword and this is what VG Chartz had to say about the game.

We still don’t have any hard data for Europe yet, but we’ll report it if it comes in. Overall though, things are looking good, but Skyward Sword did fall back to #6 overall on the pre-order listing. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations for the Xbox 360 did pick up significantly more pre-orders and it leapfrogged over Skyward Sword on the listing. The new Assassin’s Creed title is set for launch one week earlier than Skyward Sword, so next week will be its last time on the listing. One spot behind Skyward Sword is Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which also releases one week prior to the new Zelda game. It is a possibility that Halo could pass up Skyward Sword in its final spot on the countdown.

What we know for sure is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim are both releasing this week and thus, they will not be on next weeks listing. Skyward Sword will likely jump up a few spots and will almost certainly be #3 or #4 on the listing next week.

The only other Nintendo Wii titles on the listing include LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 at #33, WWE ’12 at #38, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at #46. You can see the full Top 50 listing below.
