The answer is both. Whether it is the best Zelda game to date is something each individual playing it will have to decide for themselves, but for us it inarguably ranks among the best for many reasons. It’s the way its world and art style captures all of the Zelda titles past, making them feel cohesive for the first time. It’s the masterful blend of traditional Zelda fare and brand new concepts, making for a fresh yet familiar entry that capitalizes on the 25 years of tradition that came before it. It’s the memorable, lovable characters, the touching and exciting storyline, the huge world and the immense amount of activities contained within it.
Basically, Skyward Sword culminates everything the series has done for the past quarter century into one stunning achievement in gaming. That is why it got a 10, and why it ranks among the series’ best.
