Article writer Joey Davidson at TechnoBuffalo has recently written an article commemorating the SNES era of Zelda with an article titled Remembering the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past where he reminisces about the time he first acquired the game for Christmas. The agony of waiting until December 25 for it and then the joy of his first time playing it. This is what he had to say on the game.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past will always stand as one of the best video games that I’ve had the good fortune of playing. As a title on the Super Nintendo, and as an entry in the gaming medium as a whole, Link to the Past stands in a league of its own.

The article largely talks about the writer’s fond memories of getting A Link to the Past for Christmas years ago and how wonderful it was at that time. There is little mention of content or gameplay at all until the very last paragraph. Mostly reminiscing of the good ol’ days when he first played the game.

The art style, the gameplay mechanics, the characters, the weapons, none of that mattered to me back then. A Link to the Past just felt like a great game in a way that wasn’t easily qualified by my young mind. I know why I love it now, absolutely, but then?

I just knew The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was a masterpiece.

A Link to the Past is still my favorite of the Zelda titles as well. It was one of the first Zelda games I ever played and I have loved it ever since. So I can also understand where he is coming from when reading this article. In fact when I saw the words Remembering and Link to the Past together I did instantly recall a few memories of playing the game years ago and loving it at the time. I might just dust off my old copy and play it again after reading this.
