Piranha Plant Announced as a Free Limited Edition DLC Fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Minutes after confirming that development has commenced on downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, director Masahiro Sakurai surprised us all during today’s Nintendo Direct by announcing that the Piranha Plant from the Super Mario series will be a free limited edition DLC character for fans that purchase the Smash Bros. Ultimate before January 31st. All fans need to do is register a physical copy of the game on My Nintendo or pre-purchase the game on the eShop or Nintendo’s website.
Piranha Plant as a playable fighter will be available “a couple months after launch”.
