Photoshop Contest: Zelda Clone Crossover
Posted on June 06 2015 by Rod Lloyd
Put down those pitchforks; it’s just time for another weekly ZI Photoshop Contest! You may have been upset by Tuesday’s Daily Debate on so-called “Zelda clones,” but believe me, that truly is a term of absolute endearment. So to honor the games that were inspired by The Legend of Zelda, we’ll be crossing them over with, well, The Legend of Zelda. But before we get there, we need to look at last week’s contest: Free Week!
Last Week’s Contest:
Going back to the Photoshop Contest format of old, I presented readers with three distinct images that they could ‘shop in any way they wished. A few passionate artists took on this challenge with great fervor, and the results were great. I’d say that the success of last week’s contest means I’ll be bringing Free Weeks back in the future.

Challenge Mode
In addition to photoshopping one of the three given images, artists who accepted last week’s challenge needed to include both a monkey and a Goron. No need to say why. Winning last week’s Challenge Mode is artist HaaYaaSkaa, who showed us Princess Zelda’s troubled visit to the Olive Garden. She sure is lucky that Link was there to save the day, as usual. Great job to this artist, and great job to all the artists!
This Week’s Contest: Zelda Clone Crossover
Were you one of the readers who disapproved of my use of “Zelda clone” in Tuesday’s Daily Debate? Well, it’s okay; I forgive you. I just cried myself to sleep is all. Anyway, this week we’d like to honor the truly fantastic games that were inspired by Zelda. Whether they are homage, parody, or simply an original work reminiscent of Zelda, we want to see it crossed over into the Zelda universe.
This week, create a crossover between Zelda and a game you believe to be inspired by Zelda. Maybe you want to set-up a battle between Wolf Link and Amaterasu from Ōkami, or maybe you want to place Ganon in the post-apocalyptic lands of Darksiders? Whatever you decide, you are free to use the images provided in our gallery and anything else from the internet.
General Rules:
- To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without openign the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
- Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
- Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
- Have fun and be creative!
Deadline: Submit entries no later than next Wednesday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on June 10. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.
Challenge Mode
For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a Challenge Rule for you to follow:
1. Your entry must include three different versions of Princess Zelda.
If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.
Good luck!
