It’s very surreal to think about Zelda‘s presence at E3 2019, as three new games from the franchise were shown off. One of those titles is a bizarre crossover I never thought I’d see, with Nintendo merging Brace Yourself Games’ indie Crypt of the Necrodancer with their beloved Zelda series. First impressions and reviews of the title are promising, and now fans are able to purchase Cadence of Hyrule on the Nintendo Switch eShop. If you’re still not sold on this beat-centered Zelda crossover, perhaps the footage above will aid in decision making.

Day three of Nintendo’s Treehouse: Live program started with Cadence of Hyrule to kick off a stream full of indie games. It’s hard not to become enthralled with the music, as the game’s remixes of popular Zelda tunes (arranged by prolific game composer Danny Baranowsky) are created for the purpose of literally moving to a beat. Even though players have the option of ignoring the rhythm mechanicCadence‘s soundtrack is definitely a huge part of the title. If you’re not going to pick it up, at least do yourself a favor by listening to a few tunes.

Though I’m sure Cadence of Hyrule won’t be every Zelda fan’s cup of tea, I know there are many who have already purchased it. For those of you who are dancing your way through Hyrule, what’s your take? I’m interested to hear your feedback in the comments section. If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to start this new musical Zelda journey myself.
