New speedrun record achieved for The Wind Waker

Hold onto your caps speedrun fans! A brand new any % record has been set for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker by Demoon9. He hit the astounding time of 4:34:09, beating out the previous top The Wind Waker speedrunner, Cosmo, by 2 minute and 27 seconds!

Demoon9 hosted a livestream for his record-breaking playthrough of the Japanese version of the game on TwitchTV, beating the previous time of 4:36:36. The playthrough, while not tool-assisted, exploited glitches heavily, allowing the runner to traverse dungeons and the Great Sea much more quickly than normal. Hit the jump to see his recording of the run! Be prepared though, this may be the fastest The Wind Waker run, but it’s still kind of time consuming to watch.

Watch live video from Demoon9 on TwitchTVWow. Pretty intense, wouldn’t you say? Personally, I feel like exploiting some of these glitches takes part of the fun out of the game, but there are others, like the sailing one that don’t hurt it much. What do you guys think?
