Lost spirits, eternal torment, a profound isolation that permeates the land. No, this isn’t the mythical world created by 13th century poet and philosopher Dante Alighieri; this is The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. A new video series from YouTube content creator Zelda Beyond examines the incredible parallels between The Divine Comedy and Majora’s Mask. Part one of this original series, “Majora’s Inferno: A Parallel in Narratives,” released January 31st.
Narrated by Connor Folsom, this episode explores the similarities in how the epic journeys begin for Link and Dante. Both adventurers wander through a dark wood, searching for something lost, only to stumble into “a horrible fate.” The fear of death and a wonder at what lies beyond lingers at the heart of these beloved tales.
The YouTube channel for Zelda Beyond focuses on “weekly Zelda content and in-depth analysis on the lore and mechanics of the legendary franchise.” For more of this content, you can click here.
