During the Nintendo Treehouse presentation today, we saw even more gameplay footage from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. In the opening part of the demonstration, we were shown new gameplay featuring Urbosa and Princess Zelda taking on the Yiga Clan, as well as another location from the game, the Gerudo Desert!

Based on what was shown, Urbosa’s move set is based around her lightning abilities. She’s able to integrate her sword with the element, which lets her use it for her combos, causing more damage. By pressing the X button repeatedly during one’s combo, the Gerudo Champion will throw out more and more lightning towards the enemy. It is limited by a meter of course, which means you’ll not be able to throw it out until that meter is charged.

As for Princess Zelda, her primary weapon is the Sheikah Slate. Unlike the other characters, who can use Rune techniques but are subject to a cooldown timer, all of her combos are based around combining the Rune abilities themselves. There was one point in the today’s presentation at which Zelda combined the Magnesis and Cryonis abilities to toss around ice and metal blocks at enemies. The demonstration even showed how the princess is able to summon giant Remote Bombs and a unique crawling bomb that spits out tiny bombs around the enemies. Her ultimate attack has her using the Sheikah Slate to target all the enemies in her view, reminiscent of the camera Rune, and take them with a devastating attack.

A few other items that are also worth noting from this part of the presentation was Urbosa discovering a hidden Korok in Gerudo Village and receiving a Korok Seed. Not much else was said about this feature except that the Koroks will be scattered throughout all the different stages.

Lastly, this portion of the presentation featured a Molduga showing up, first in a cutscene and then on the battlefield. Nothing else was said about that, but we presume that the Molduga could be the big enemy boss of the Gerudo Desert area, or perhaps even an ally. And, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the words, “Deafeat Master Kohga,” flash across the screen. We’ll just have to see how the Yoga Clan leader fits into the story at a later date.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to be released on November 20, 2020.
