New Fan Animation Series Interprets Ocarina of Time’s Alternate Ending

What went down in the alternate ending of Ocarina of Time where link fell to the hands of Ganondorf? How was he killed, and where? This new, multi-episode fan animation “The Legend of Zelda – Hyrules Downfall” is offering its own take on the answers to these questions.
After six long months of animation by animator RwanLink, this series features 3D animation and an original voice cast — albeit with some clips from the game such as grunts and laughter. Narrated by Zelda, this saga explores an original series of events from Link’s fight with Ganondorf at the top of Ganon’s Tower to the Hero of Time’s ultimate fall, featuring a soundtrack by music creator Mosik. Additionally, the creator hid a number of references to other Zelda titles for fans to find.
I enjoyed watching these artists’ take on this tragic tale from Hyrule’s history, and I look forward to seeing how it plays out. Given the darker tone of the tale, I appreciate how the animator went with a mix of the styles of Twilight Princess and Majora’s Mask.

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
