The dungeons in the original The Legend of Zelda feel all kinds of mysterious when you first enter them as Link, and part of that is thanks to the Dungeon theme. Entering a dark chamber filled with who knows what manner of danger is the feeling you get, especially when listening to musician Sven Djorsing’s rendition of this score. What makes his version of the tune different is in the variations of the main instrument he knows how to use, and that’s the saxophone.

Djorsing of the YouTube channel Saxophonist’s Corner makes this cover stand out due to his proficiency with distinct kinds of saxophones, which include soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass. In this rework of the Dungeon theme from the Nintendo Entertainment System’s The Legend of Zelda he proceeds to use two saxophones (bass and soprano) to give a unique take on the score. With the power of these musical instruments, he’s also covered other Zelda tunes such as a one-man quintet of “Inside A House,” as well as a one-person quartet of “Saria’s Song” from Ocarina of Time.

Aside from Zelda, Djorsing has also tackled a couple of other Nintendo franchises using the power of his musical talents. This includes music from Super Mario, Kirby, and even a unique saxophone accompaniment for the song “Peaches” from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. According to the Saxophonist’s Corner channel’s “About” section, Djorsing hopes his channel can serve as a source of inspiration and entertainment for anyone who visits it.
