The Legend of Zelda has an unquestionably passionate creative community, occupied by a diverse collection of fervent fans. In particular, the fandom is filled with talented musicians looking to make their appreciation for the series’ amazing music known with their own renditions and rearrangements. One of the most interesting and unique examples has recently become available for streaming. Video game mariachi outfit (never thought I’d ever describe a band that way) Maricachi Entertainment System has released their new album Hecho En Hyrule on major streaming platforms.

Hecho En Hyrule was revealed via this humorous announcement trailer. Fans of A Link to the Past are certain to recognize the recreation of “Death Mountain” at the trailer’s conclusion. In addition to this classic track, the album will contain mariachi arrangements of “Kakariko Village,” “Gerudo Valley,” and “Dragon Roost Island,” among others. Mariachi is a regional genre of Mexican music that traditionally features a sizeable band that includes guitar, acoustic bass, trumpets, and a set of violins. The vast collection of different sounds and tones is sure to perfectly represent the dynamism and intensity present in all of the best Zelda tunes.

Hecho En Hyrule is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp. Pre-orders for a vinyl press release will be available November 16th through Channel 3 Records. You can learn more about Mariachi Entertainment System on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In doing research for this article I learned that they contributed to the absolute banger of a soundtrack for Guacamelee 2! Their musical chops are truly superb!
