Listen To This Wonderful Celtic Cover of “Hateno Village” from Breath of the Wild

While there are several Hylian towns in Breath of the Wild, Hateno Village is by far my favorite. Nestled in the hills and mountains of East Necluda, the town has access to some incredibly scenic vistas. Additionally, the town has several key shops and locations, including the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, Kochi Dye Shop, Ventest Clothing Boutique, and the Cursed Statue. The bustling Hateno Village feels like a remnant of a blissful time before Calamity Ganon, reminding longtime fans of villages from across the franchise’s history like Skyloft, Hyrule Castle Town, and Ordon Village.
This Celtic cover of “Hateno Village” creates a peaceful, relaxing environment that fits the town perfectly. This cover is one in a series of Celtic Zelda covers by Youtuber Tim de Man. Each of the Celtic covers within the series uses a variety of instruments including accordion, tin whistle, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar. The use of accordion in this cover is especially wonderful because it creates a sound reminiscent of the music that the Rito musician Kass plays within Breath of the Wild. It is easy to picture the lovable minstrel playing the accordion on this cover.
Overall, the instrumentation on this “Hateno Village” cover is great, with each instrument getting a chance to shine. It feels like the main melody is passed around from instrument to instrument, which creates a diverse soundscape. The use of several different instruments also keeps the song fresh, and it never overstays its welcome with its three-minute length. The song has a soothing tone, and it feels like a perfect song to add to a summer playlist (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere). It would feel great to hike through a beautiful park with this cover on repeat.
