Today marks the release of Overwatch on Nintendo Switch. And while this news may not normally be relevant on a Zelda website, a recent fan-made trailer has us excited for a dream crossover between The Legend of Zelda and Blizzard’s popular team shooter.

Moon Studios’ visual effects artist Etienne POV recently unveiled an exciting what-if trailer featuring Link as a guest character in Overwatch. Based on a concept by Shiro Games’ Jeremy Vitry and a follow-up 3D render by Super Bit Machine’s Aaron Walker — both of which we highlighted a few years back — this trailer shows our hero jump into action with sword and shield in hand. He even plunders a treasure chest in traditional fashion to nab a quick Rupee.

This exceptional trailer acts as a collaboration between Etienne POV, Vitry, and Walker, as well as Shiro Games’ Philémon Belhomme and Riot Games’ Stéphane Videlo. It’s clear that a lot of hard work and creativity went into the project, and we’re definitely now salivating for an official appearance by Link in Overwatch.

You can check out the original concept art and character model that inspired this project in the gallery below.
