Legend of Zelda at E3 2012?

Do you think we’ll see any Zelda related goodies at E3 this year? It might sound like a silly question but, do you want to see Zelda goodies this year at E3? Gaming’s largest convention is less than three months away and the excitement in the video game world is building. The Nintendo Wii U will be center stage and talks of the next generation of video game consoles are on the minds of bloggers and journalists all over the net. Where does that leave Zelda? Go ahead and jump inside to hear my thoughts.

2011 was the year of Zelda. If you count up all the Nintendo 3DS eShop and ambassador Zelda titles, along with the free giveaway of the Four Swords Anniversary Edition, the remake of Ocarina of Time 3D, and then of course Skyward Sword, there were a heck of a lot of Zelda games last year. In 2012, focus thus far from Nintendo has been on the Nintendo 3DS. There has been some Wii titles announced and released, but there isn’t too much left out of that console. Nintendo has gone quiet with Nintendo Wii U news and information, but that seems like it will change in just a few months as E3 approaches.

As a Nintendo fan, I’m excited about all the new games, new features, and the bright future of the Nintendo Wii U. However, as a Zelda fan, I just don’t see it happening this year. Nintendo will have its hands full at E3 showcasing the new hardware, along with all the new games they announce. Missing from those titles, I think will be Zelda. I just cannot see Nintendo revealing a new Zelda title this year, whether that be a remake, or a new game for the 3DS or Wii U. I’m not saying it’s out of the question, but I just don’t think it will happen.

Perhaps I’m wrong and there will be something. If anything, I don’t think it will be announced during their press conference. Perhaps it will be like E3 2009 where they showed off a piece of artwork for what would become Skyward Sword. Maybe even like E3 2010 where they showed a few screenshots of Ocarina of Time 3D after their conference. I don’t think Nintendo will do this, but even if they do, I doubt it will be during their main press conference.
