Just How Long Is Skyward Sword?!

Alright, so we all know Miyamoto has said The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will have between 50 to 100 hours of gameplay. Very exciting news for fans that hate short games and want this experience to last as long as possible. I remember they promised Twilight Princess to be around 60 hours and maybe it is because I had so much fun playing the game, but it seemed like lasted a lot less. Even when I was doing a 100% of the game I don’t think it lasted nearly that long. So I was skeptical that Skyward Sword would realistically be 50 to 100 hours. I mean those are two very different numbers. In comparison it’s like saying something could last 0 to 50 hours. How could you be off by 50 hours? Does Skyward Sword really have that much emphasis on side quests?

Well the Official Nintendo Magizine has cleared up a lot of my confusion and more than likely yours too on the subject. Keep reading after the jump to find out what they had to say about the length of the game.

There are about 35 hours to be spent on Skyward Sword’s main quest along, and at least double that if you plan on dipping into the game’s plentiful side-quests, collecting all of the insects, upgrading all of the items, discovering the locations of the Goddess Cubes and exploring the world.

As it turns out the full game will in fact be as Miyamoto said 50 – 100 hours depending on how you play the game. If you stick to the main quest and avoid any side quests it should still be a pretty long game, but if you play it like I probably will and take your time exploring everything before heading out to the next dungeon after beating the prior one than you could probably realistically be glued in front of your Wii for well over the 50 hours mark and be on your way to the 100 mark. As long as this game is it could seem to get a little boring and tedious for some people, but just think ONM set through this entire game and loved every single hour of it so much they gave it the highest score they have ever given a game.

It seems Nintendo has thought of everything for this game. It has the back story of OoT, an emphasis on side quests like MM, what seems like a mix of TP & WW graphics coming together to make a beautiful new style and that old exploration feeling we had when we played the NES and SNES Zelda games. If this isn’t exciting enough for you I don’t know what will be. I am very impatient with this games release date, but with a month exactly before it gets here I can remember over a year ago when I first heard the game being announced and it seems like just yesterday. So I’m sure it will be here in no time and it wont be long before we all start wondering about the next Zelda title for the 3DS or Wii U.

What do you guys think of the length of this game? Will it be too long? Do you think it will ever get repetitive while your playing it or will every hour you put into it be just as amazing as the first? Please give us your thoughts in the comments below and remember to always check back for more Zelda updates!
