The Legend of Zelda is well known for giving some of its characters interesting backgrounds, and Lana isn’t the exception. The moment she showed up in the Hyrule Warrior’s box art, fans started to make theories and speculations about who she really was. That being said, we must consider that her role in the game is really important. While it’s true that Lana as a personification of Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, could provide a twisted plot, we’ve seen it already in another game, this being the case of the main character with the same name in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.

We know that the Goddess of Wisdom created the laws of the universe and magic, and as we saw in the character trailer, Lana uses her Book of Sorcery to form magical barriers, keeping enemies away. This also resembles a spell given to Link in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time called Nayru’s Love. On top of that, if we look a little closer at our blue haired girl, we’ll see that her belt buckle is similar to the top centerpiece of the Harp of Ages. But the big question is: if she was meant to be related to Nayru in someway, why did Nintendo create a new character instead of using the one they already have? Here comes theory number two.

We also know Lana is referred to as the White Witch in Hyrule Warriors, and the main antagonist, Cia, as the Black Witch. So there’s obviously a connection between those two; sisters? Enemies? Although the idea may sound more attractive, we’ll have to wait and see. I’m really expecting a different and at the same time crazy history with multiple points of views. Plus, I can’t wait to see these two characters in action. What are your thoughts about this?
