Introducing Legendary Pictures — A Spotlight on Movies That Remind Us of The Legend of Zelda
Posted on February 14 2020 by Rod Lloyd
With this year’s Oscars season just now wrapping up and a swell of huge Hollywood blockbusters always around the corner, the Zelda Dungeon staff has been in quite the movie mood recently. We’ve had our usual debates about the likelihood of a Zelda movie releasing in the coming years, and about how such a film adaptation should take shape, but all the cinema talk also got us thinking about existing movies that remind us of the Legend of Zelda series… movies with Zelda DNA, if you will.
So, for the next two weeks, our writing staff will be shining a spotlight on the different films that remind of us of The Legend of Zelda in a series we’re calling “Legendary Pictures“. Not to be confused with the production house of the same name, this series will focus on tales from across film history, from fantasy to science fiction, from live action to animation. We’ll share about each film’s strengths, identify similarities to the various games in the Zelda series, and even discuss how a hypothetical Zelda movie could work with our picks as templates.
We’ll be running Legendary Pictures entries every weekday for the next two weeks. We hope you’ll join us on this cinematic adventure, and we invite you to share about the movies that remind you of the Zelda series too!
