Hello everybody and welcome to the latest edition of Gossip Stone! This time around the main focus is what would a futuristic Zelda be like? Have any of you ever thought of this idea? After playing Skyward Sword and seeing all the ancient robots surely some of you must’ve had a few thoughts about it. Well even if you haven’t had the idea before, today I’m going to be discussing what it would be like if there was a futuristic instalment to the Zelda series. I’ve got two main points I’d like to focus on in particular and they are enemies and Link’s design, so without further ado here is today’s Gossip Stone!

Now to start things off, let’s figure out what the enemies would look like in a futuristic Zelda. There are two possibilities for this, they could either become sentient machines like the robots in Skyward Sword, or they could be highly evolved and much more intelligent. Let’s talk about the machine option first. I believe it would be really cool for a futuristic Zelda to include mechanical enemies. We sort of saw something like this with the Technoblins, but they really only had advanced weaponry. The various enemies that we have seen throughout the Zelda series now becoming machines would lead to some pretty interesting battle mechanics. They could also have some really cool ways to attack Link due to their advanced and technological form. If these enemies were advanced and evolved life forms however, I would expect to see something like Technoblins. Now I’m not calling Technoblins smart or anything, but they were a bit harder to fight than regular Bokoblins, due to their electrical weapons. I’m not saying that all enemies could go crazy with electrified ways to defend themselves either, that would just annoy the players. What would be nice to see however would be the enemies putting up a bit more of a fight, with ways to parry Link’s attacks and even stagger him leaving him vulnerable to an enemies attack. This would lead the player to come up with attack strategies for even regular enemies, which is not something that happens very often.

Now let’s move on to what Link would look like. I’ve seen some concept art online and I’m really liking how fans are thinking when it comes to a more advanced Link. Link could be regular, he could be half mechanical, he could be full mechanical. He could also just be wearing a suit of strong metals instead of the tunic he normally wears and that would be fine. The biggest focus would be what he fights with though. Would he still fight using a sword? I would hope so, I don’t really like the sound of a master gun… His sword would obviously be tempered with the advanced technology there would be in the futuristic times but what about his side weapons. Bombs, bow and hookshot. Those are the main ones you find in most Zelda games. To be honest the only way I could see them changing is with the use of a crossbow in an actual Zelda game instead of Link’s Crossbow Training and the bombs being packed with a different kind of explosive power.

I’ve outlined how I would picture things so what do you think? Would you even like to see a futuristic Zelda? I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t, heck we don’t even have a modern day Zelda. The game will keep progressing how the developers like and there is really nothing we can do about it. We all like the way Zelda is set now and in time I’m sure the series will see a more modern theme.
