Check Out This Deep Dive into A Link to the Past’s Hyrule Castle Tower

The latest episode of our very own Gooey Fame‘s Gooey’s Dungeon Dive video series tackles A Link to the Past‘s Hyrule Castle Tower. Gooey guides us through the dungeon and the events directly preceding and following it on a narrative adventure read from the game’s player’s guide. Like the rest of the video series, he pits the dungeon against the rest of Zelda‘s dungeons preceding it by release, by weighing a number of factors from navigation to impact. Then, after some brief confliction, the dungeon took the top spot.
This was my first time watching one of Gooey’s videos, and I have to admit I really enjoyed it. Going forward, I definitely think I’ll follow the progression of his podcast, and even check out some older videos. With the way he reads the campaign from the player’s manual, it feels almost like I’m listening to a DnD campaign. It’s relaxing entertaining, and most of all, I get to relive some of my favorite moments from gaming history through a new lens.

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
