Godzilla Attacks Hyrule as Fan Recreates the Monster in Tears of the Kingdom

Lurelin Village beware! The latest Godzilla film just released internationally, and it seems one Zelda fan was ahead of the game with hype, bringing the monster straight to Hyrule.
It didn’t take long after Tears of the Kingdom’s release for fans to realize the boundless potential of the Ultrahand ability. From Gundam to TIE Fighters, creative fans have engineered all sorts of contraptions. One such engineer by the name of sumogori2323 on X (formerly Twitter) has taken to recreating a handful of staple scenes from the beloved movie franchise, seemingly in celebration of the release of the new Godzilla Minus One film.

There’s an astounding amount of effort that went into this video. From the classic walk on the beach, to the tank barrage, to Gojira — the big guy himself — walking back into the sea, they made it all. It’s a creation that feels right from Godzilla‘s creators, the Toho Company. Though it should go without saying, the attention to detail is meticulous, using what’s available in-game to reconstruct Gojira’s best moments. Any fan of Godzilla is bound to appreciate what Sumoguri2323 has made here. Just check out this comparison by IGN to the original 1954 movie.
Between Gojira, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla Minus One — the original film and its two most recent re-imaginings — I’ve come to greatly appreciate the key elements of Godzilla films. The longer I look at the monster as created by sumogori2323, the more I come to realize how much thought went into which items were used and for what. Seeing Lynel Horns acting as hands, for instance, shows how a little ingenuity can go a long way. I really admire what’s been created here, and I even feel inspired to make my own take on Zonaizilla — or would that be Godzonai? Whichever, I’m always pleasantly surprised to see franchises I like cross over with each other, especially when that crossover comes from a fellow fan.
What do you think of this Zonai creation? Are you a fan of Godzilla too? Is he strong enough to stand up to the might of the Demon King? Let us know in the comments below!

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
