It never ceases to amaze me how much love the soundtrack for Ocarina of Time has received over the years. Make no mistake, it’s absolutely earned every bit of respect and adoration that’s been given to it, be it “Song of Storms”, “Zelda’s Lullaby”, or the “Bolero of Fire;” the list goes on and on. It’s arguably the best soundtrack in the franchise or at the very least it’s top-tier. With that said, I have noticed in my time writing for this site that one track seems to eke out above the others when it comes to homages and tributes. That track, of course, is “Gerudo Valley”.

I can absolutely understand why too. I remember the first time I heard it 23 years ago (oof, I’m old), I felt like I had stepped into the “pro” portion of Ocarina of Time. Everything up to that point had been a tutorial. Here was this expansive landscape for me to explore and the whole time this banging track that oozes a feeling of “high adventure” is playing, egging me on to go just a bit further.

What’s also great about “Gerudo Valley” is how well it lends itself to remixes. It has the perfect tempo and beat for it, and Mewmore seized the opportunity to give it an electronic spin that I’m still tapping my toe and bobbing my head to. There’s an obvious familiarity to it as to be expected, but there’s also just enough of an auditory uniqueness to it that Mewmore should be very proud of. It’s very clear that they had an understanding of why that track is so great and saw an opportunity to give us a taste of how their own style compliments it. And the results are nothing short of great.

Be sure to check out the rest of their channel if you like what you’ve heard here.
