UntitledGaijin Gomba, host of the YouTube show Game Exchange: Culture Shock, has released a new episode about the catfish from A Link to the Past‘s Dark World. GG delves into the surprisingly deep roots of the real-life legends the catfish is based on.

It is certainly interesting to learn about the Namazu, the earthquake causing fish. It’s also cool that things as small as the small circle of stones in the Dark World, and the rock throwing, have deeper meaning. It would certainly be neat to have many more of these little ancient references explained by Nintendo in some sort of publication, like Hyrule Historia.
