Fi’s Theme Fan Cover

If there’s anything I enjoy about a Zelda game, it’s definitely the music. With Skyward Sword, I have to say that I was very impressed. One of my favorite songs from the series’ newest release has got to be Fi’s Theme, and gs03622 over on Youtube has created quite the cover of it. While the background of their cover is simply the orchestrated version of Fi’s Theme, the Youtube user actually recorded themselves playing the flute for the melody of the song! Not only that, but they say that they’ve only been playing for about a month! To me, they sound like a great flute player for having played for such a short amount of time. According to the description of the video on Youtube, gs03622 used the program FL Studio as well as two mics to record their flute playing. One mic was placed near the blow hole of the flute, and the other was placed a few feet away from the tail end to “catch some room reverb” in addition to picking up some more sound. It sounds like a great setup to me, although I’m not experienced in recording music. gso3622 himself asked for any advice in recording overall, so if you have any to share that might help, let them know!

I have to say that, in my opinion, I found this recording really impressive! For an almost brand new flute player, the sound overall was excellent. I also really like how they used the orchestrated version of Fi’s Theme, instead of the normal version. But what do you think of the cover? Any recording advice you could give? Did you like the video? Leave us a comment and let us know!
