Power, Wisdom and Courage — three distinctive attributes that fans of the Zelda series are sure to recognize.  Throughout Hyrulean history, three souls have been locked in a desperate battle for a relic that combines these attributes into an ultimate power.  Ganondorf, with his hunger to control the world and all who dwell in it.  Princess Zelda, with her desire to protect her people and rule them well.  And Link, the brave warrior who rises to the aid of an entire kingdom in peril.  How fitting that these individuals should champion the very characteristics of an artifact that they could be destined to wield!

But consider those who created the Triforce.  The Golden Goddesses are the very embodiment of Power, Wisdom and Courage.  Would these omnipotent and eternal deities have appreciated the plight of their respective champions?  Perhaps Din would have supported Ganondorf’s actions in his bid to take over Hyrule.  It’s possible that Nayru would have agreed with the decisions that Zelda made, as she attempted to outmanoeuvre her enemies.  And maybe Farore would have understood Link’s motivation, when he struck down those who stood in his path to peace and prosperity for the world at large.  But then again, maybe not.

Ganondorf was often cruel in his attempts to take over Hyrule.  It could be argued that Zelda made the wrong decision, when her actions lead to the split timeline in Ocarina of Time.  Link struck down many living creatures as he journeyed throughout Hyrule.  These are all reasons that the Golden Goddesses may have withdrawn their support from their respective champions.  I think it’s possible that their support and views may have changed over the eras; a point which could be argued with how often the Goddesses intervened in the affairs of Hyrule.

Do you think the Golden Goddesses would have supported their respective champions?  Let us know in the comments below!
