Daily Debate: Will Breath of the Wild 2 Have New Weapon Types and Classes?

Breath of the Wild introduced us to an entirely new weapon system that no other Zelda game has ever seen. Though it came as a major disappointment and inconvenience to many, the introduction of different breakable weapons set Breath of the Wild apart from all other Zelda games. With Breath of the Wild 2 on the horizon it makes one wonder if new weapon types and classes will be introduced to the game.

I really hope that there are new weapons! I would be disappointed if there weren’t. If we were given the same weapons and classes all over it again it would make the game seem rather stale from the start. I would love to see the different races (Rito, Goron, Zora, Gerudo, etc.) weapons expanded. Many of those cultures featured swords, shields, and bows, but I would like to see axes, lances, and even specialized types of magic come from those cultures and implemented into the weapons system of the game.  It would also be nice, along with new types of weapons, would be different classes of weapons. We saw Ancient, Elemental, Royal, and Knight’s weapons, and different monster class weapons, but I would be shocked if there weren’t anything new to be explored. It would be really cool to be able to take dragon parts and forge weapons from that. With the possibility of a rebuilt Hyrule I could see there being a Blacksmith with a weapon’s forge. I would hope that the possibility for weapons would be just as expansive as Hyrule itself. My biggest wish for a new weapon would be some kind of magical sword. Magical Swords have been a staple in many Zelda games and it’s about time the world of Breath of the Wild sees one.
