Daily Debate: Which Zelda Characters Would Be Well Suited for Mario Kart?

It came as quite a shock last week when a new update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe added Breath of the Wild Link as a playable character. While a prior incarnation of Hyrule’s hero had joined the long-running racing series back in 2014, we really weren’t expecting Mario Kart to again crossover with the Zelda series. So, with the Champion of Breath of the Wild now an official part of the Mario Kart cast, the door may be open for other Zelda characters to join him and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom gang down the road.

But what other Zelda characters would be a good fit for the racetrack? Personally, I can see the remaining Champions of Breath of the Wild joining Mario Kart, especially since that game’s version of Link is already a part of the cast. Like our hero burning rubber with the Master Cycle Zero, perhaps the other Champions can pilot special versions of their own Divine Beasts. Mipha, Urbosa, Daruk, and Revali have become fan favorites since their debut, and they could certainly represent the Zelda series in other Nintendo games.

Call it a long shot, but I’d love to see the Mario Kart franchise embrace The Legend of Zelda even more. The Zelda series is full of interesting characters, so which ones do you think would fit in a Mario Kart game? Share your suggestions in the comments below.
