Daily Debate: What’s the Best Place to Trick-or-Treat in the Zelda-Verse?

If you’ve ever been trick-or-treating, you probably know about finding the place with the best decorations and candy, which often turns out to be a wealthy neighborhood. The various kingdoms and nations in the Zelda franchise bring no shortage of communities, whether that’s small towns or bustling cities. There’s no shortage of silly and kooky characters in the series either, so you know the people of Hyrule and her sister lands know how to set up a house for Halloween — but what place would be the best?
At first I thought the answer was an obvious Castle Town, with a toss up between Twilight Princess and Age of Calamity. Both cities are huge and feature a vast population of diverse cultures and peoples. Without a doubt, there’d be no missing the variety in candy and decor. The former title’s Castle Town even has a bar that’d make quite the nice stop after a night of walking about.
Alas, I soon remembered another contender in Clock Town. It’s just as diverse as any Castle Town, but the layout is so much richer and better suited to trick-or-treating. On top of that, the spooky and autumnal vibes of the place, and Termina as a whole, just feel more in line with Halloween (which may or may not be because of the impending doom plaguing the world throughout Majora’s Mask). Clock Town would definitely be my first trick-or-treat destination on Halloween. There’s just something about traversing its streets in a costume with countless others, connected by the same mission, that feels right. Though, that’s not to say I wouldn’t drop by Castle Town after the fact — assuming I didn’t I find myself occupied at the Milk Bar.
That still leaves so many locations, though. It’d take a few Halloweens to experience all the Zelda universe has to offer, but I think that’s OK.
