​Daily Debate: What Genre of the Zelda Series do You Most Enjoy?

Over the years, the Zelda franchise has gained many fans and followers of all ages. Whilst reflecting upon this, a question came into mind: Why do people love the Zelda series? The Zelda franchise is so successful because it is a combination of different genres. The molding together of action, adventure, puzzle solving, and drama is what gathers the interest of so many fans. Let’s take a look at each of these genres, and you can decide which one you like the most.

ACTION

The part that draws in a lot of the fans is, of course, the action. Things like the rush of adrenaline during a boss battle and the energy you feel when you cut down waves of enemies are what make up this side of Zelda. Action gives you a feeling that I can only describe as invigorating. It hypes you up and inspires a ready-for-anything type of sensation. Needless to say, the action aspect is very appealing.

ADVENTURE

No matter what type of person you are, everyone likes a little adventure sometime in their lives. The adventure part of the Zelda series is experienced mostly through exploration. When you’re battling your way through enemies to reach the next area in search of the princess, you can’t help but feel a sense of adventure.

PUZZLE SOLVING

I’m not much for the puzzle solving genre, but there are some puzzles in The Legend of Zelda that I really love. Passing through dungeons in search of the next item always requires wracking your brain to complete the puzzles they contain. Even though puzzle solving can be stressful for some, there is always that triumphant feeling once you are victorious that makes you feel good about yourself.

DRAMA

What is always your main objective in Zelda? Rescuing the princess of course. The dramatic scenes when she is kidnapped are always heartbreaking. It gives you motivation to complete the game, even though you’re saving a fictional character. All of your interactions with people along the way add elements of real life to the game. Some encounters can be positive, but some may be negative. It’s all part of the drama in the Legend of Zelda series.
