In most Zelda games, Link has always been seen as weak at the start and then earns his strength to fight the final battle at the end. But ever since playing Majora’s Mask, seeing Link wearing the Fierce Deity mask made me feel uncomfortable. Should the Hero of Time have such immense power and defeat bosses with ease? It didn’t sit right with me, and I began to wonder, could we imagine Hyrule’s savior as a villain?

As an idea, Ganondorf refuses to play his traditional role to possess the Triforce of Power. Link claims this essence instead, but in turn rejects courage. The consequences of such a decision, is that Ganondorf creates a villain ten times worse than himself. To put a stop to the madness, Princess Zelda has no choice but to beg for Ganondorf’s assistance!

Now, this may seem a little strange, but I think a Zelda ‘team up’ game involving Ganondorf and Princess Zelda would create an interesting gameplay style. We could see Zelda handling the puzzle aspects and supporting with magic, whilst Ganondorf handles fighting and exploration. Imagine Ganondorf exploring his former strongholds, lairs and nests of hostile enemies to complete side quests and gather information. In the meantime, Zelda researches and seeks relics that may be able to reverse the Triforce of Power’s influence over Link. The final confrontation against Link of dodging his vast array of weapons and magic attacks would be a challenge for sure!

What do you think about the possibility of Link being overcome by a thirst for power? Would you be interested to play a game with Zelda and Ganondorf as comrades? Share your thoughts with us below.
