The success of Nintendo’s remake of Link’s Awakening for the Nintendo Switch has understandably piqued the curiosity of longtime fans. What other games from the handheld era could be ported, remastered, or even completely remade for the Switch? Even traditionalists (like myself), who feel a nostalgic need to play the DX version must acknowledge the awe of seeing the game brought to life on a television screen.

Calls have been many for a similar revival of beloved classics like The Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition, now nearly impossible to find, would be a dream on a system with the capabilities of the Switch. But all these games would at best be a fresh twist on something already done. But, what if Nintendo packaged the Oracle games together and included the started, but never finished third game, The Mystical Seed of Courage?

If you didn’t already know, Capcom wanted to produce three games for Nintendo’s legendary Zelda series. The idea was to create the “Mysterious/Mystical Seed Trilogy”, where each element of the Triforce would be represented in its own game. The games would feature a password system that allowed for back and forth play between each title, finally unlocking a “true ending” once completed.

The Mystical Seed of Power became Oracle of Seasons, focusing on action-styled combat. Whereas The Mystical Seed of Wisdom became Oracle of Ages, focusing on time travel and puzzle solving. Ultimately, The Mystical Seed of Courage was cancelled because it was too difficult to co-ordinate all three titles. This never-released, third game in the trilogy has long been a point of interest for Zelda fans who wish to know what secrets it might have held.

A re-imagining of the Oracle games on the Nintendo Switch, along with a brand-new third game of the trilogy, would be an exciting prospect for some. The again, perhaps there is some danger in trying to squeeze too much from the past, and some might view a revival of these games as a cheap money grab by Nintendo in place of producing new content.

Tell us what you think? Should Nintendo remake the Oracle games, and possibly include the never released third game?
