Tears of the Kingdom has been around for nearly a month, and I’m sure that many fans have at least gotten a taste of what Hyrule has in store for them. Tears of the Kingdom boasts many new abilities, one of which being Fuse which was demonstrated in a gameplay demo prior to the release of the game. Very early on in Tears of the Kingdom you learn that most of Hyrule’s weapons have deteriorated from the effects of the Gloom that hangs around the kingdom. This turn of events leads us to needing to use Link’s new Fuse ability to forge stronger weapons. It’s very different and it leads one to ask, do you miss the old weapons system from Breath of the Wild?

Early on I struggled to figure out Fuse, so much to the point that I didn’t use the ability at all. I played my first handful of hours of the game just running through rusty weapons as fast as I could find them. It made me miss having more durable weapons like in Breath of the Wild, but once I grasped Fuse I began to think that this system was a little bit better. Part of the appeal and fun of Tears of the Kingdom finally open up to me.

I personally never had an issue with breakable weapons in Breath of the Wild, but I can understand how the Fusing system would frustrate many since weapons seem to break at a faster rate than in Breath of the Wild. A definite pro to Fuse though is that I can get very strong weapons early on in the game where as in Breath of the Wild I was having to travel to dangerous areas to get a decent weapon.

There are times where I do miss being able to find Thunderblade or going to exactly where a Zora Sword would be, but I love all of the creativity that comes from being able to Fuse random objects to whatever rusty sword or stick that I have in my inventory. What do you think though? Do you miss the old weapons system from Breath of the Wild or do you prefer Tears of the Kingdom’s weapon system? Let us know in the comments down below.
