Daily Debate: Do We Need Another Zelda Port So Soon?

I’m about to give everyone my hot take, and I know that there are many that will disagree with me in an instant. I expect that. We do not need another port of Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker, we need a new Zelda game. We need Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom was recently announced with a release date of May 12th, 2023. (About time!) Though I’m getting tired of hearing about rumors and ports. Now that we have a release date for Breath of the Wild’s sequel, we don’t need another Zelda port so soon.
Skyward Sword HD released last Summer and it was a fantastic port, but it was the first time being ported to a new system. It was also a nice surprise since it is a beloved game by many Zelda fans. I loved getting the opportunity to play it for the first time. It makes the release of Tears of the Kingdom seem a little shorter, but with the previous delay and rumors of new ports I’m finding the rumors of ports to be exhausting.
The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are amazing and wonderful games. The Wind Waker happens to be my contender for my all-time favorite Zelda game. As much as I love it, I would rather not see another port of either game in the near future. If they ported those two games it would be the second time they would be ported to a new system. Don’t get me wrong, if a port came out I would buy it and play it. But I don’t want that now, but maybe in the far future. What I want over another port is Tears of the Kingdom. I would love to see Nintendo focusing all of their efforts on giving Zelda fans something new rather than recycling a game that already had a lot of time in the sun. If Nintendo were to port another game, despite my desire for something new, I would love to see the GameBoy Advance or Nintendo DS games ported for Nintendo Switch Online.
