santa_link_by_tavington-d5oafw7Welcome to another Christmas editorial! This week we will be looking at what Hyrule would look like during Christmas time. More specifically, we’ll be looking at the Twilight Princess version of Hyrule. In part one I’ll go over Ordon Village, Kakariko Village, and Death Mountain.

I’ll start out with Ordon Village, Link’s home village. In the main part of the village, everyone’s homes and shops would be decked out in lights. First, allow me to clear something up. You’re probably saying to yourself, “SkyruleArcher, there’s no electricity in Hyrule!”. No, no there isn’t, but have a little imagination! The lights could be magic lights, mini lanterns, or even fairies in bottles. Instead of little light-up deer in residents’ yards, they would have light-up Ordon Goats! On Christmas Eve, Mayor Bo would dress up as Santa (or whoever their version of Old Saint Nick is) and go into all the residents’ homes, through the chimney and leave presents in all of the homes. Christmas day, the whole village would get together for dinner, and they would eat roast goat and cheese.

Next up is Kakariko Village. All of the houses in the Village would have lights on them, but to advertise, Malo Mart would be so decked out in lights that it would rival the Griswold house. In this area there are very few children, so noone dresses as Santa and gives gifts, families just exchange gifts with each other. For Christmas dinner the residents eat fried cucco, as it was the cheapest option given Link’s most recent livestock slaughter.

Now we arrive at Death Mountain, home of the Gorons! There wouldn’t be any lights for decorations here, but instead there would be statues that the Gorons carved with their bare hands. The Gorons celebrate a different kind of Christmas, it’s more like a birthday. All of the citizens bring gifts to the chief, and if he approves of their gift, the Goron who gave said gift would have the privilege of sumo wrestling the chief. For Christmas dinner the Gorons would eat Rock Sirloin (assuming they have that in Hyrule), the finest kind of rock, and bomb flowers.

That’s all for this week, but be here next week for part two of Christmas in Hyrule! I’ll be going over Zora’s Domain, the Hidden Village, and Hyrule Castle Town. Be sure to check back every Wednesday up until (and including) Christmas day for a new Christmas Editorial! What do you think of the various celebrations? Let us know in the comments!
