Check Out This Cello Cover of Breath of the Wild’s Shrine Theme
Posted on June 28 2018 by Sean Gadus
There are 120 Shrines in Breath of the Wild (more if you count the DLC), and any player who wants to explore Hyrule thoroughly will spend a lot of time puzzling through these devious and dangerous mini dungeons. Because of this huge number of shrines, players spend hours listening to the mysterious and mystical music created by Manaka Kataoka. The Shrine theme is reminiscent of the mysterious and foreboding dungeons themes from the original Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past, though Kataoka’s theme combines electronic sounds and traditional instruments rather than sticking with an epic orchestra sound.
In this arrangement, musician CelloBassett uses the cello to simulate the different sounds and instruments found in the Shrine theme. This is an impressive and thoughtful arrangement, with CelloBassett using the Cello in many flexible and surprising ways.
