Yesterday, the Nintendo gaming community was given a huge boost of stimulation after the first-ever Wii U commercial went live in the UK. Nintendo has tried its best in the advertisement to show that this is, indeed, a new console and not just a rehash of its predecessor by showing how the Wii U GamePad interacts with the console and its very useful function of switching to off-TV play. The commercial also showed such games as New Super Mario Bros U, ZombiU, and attractions from Nintendo Land including The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest!

In showing the Zelda: Battle Quest attraction, Nintendo has given people watching the Wii U commercial a much more detailed idea of how the Wii U GamePad allows for a contrasting view over the TV screen. Enemies may be looked at closer-up when using the GamePad while the TV widens the perspective a little more.

Though this commercial may seem a little cheesy it should catch consumers’ attention to Wii U being firmly implanted into the next generation of gaming. Even if Nintendo UK hasn’t created a near perfect commercial for its region, Nintendo of America will soon have a blockbuster commercial heading live throughout North America which should really attract customers to the Wii U department of any electronic and department store.

What do you think of this first Wii U commercial? Does it hit the mark or miss by a long shot? What are your hopes for the North American commercial which the UK ad didn’t place much emphasis on? Let us know your thoughts and opinion in the comments below!
