Biggoron's Sword makes a reappearance in ''Breath of the Wild'', this time as an amiibo exclusive, two-handed weapon. It has a base power of 50 and a durability of 60 (making it the most durable amiibo melee weapon in the game), and can be obtained by scanning a Link (Ocarina of Time) amiibo through the use of the [[amiibo (Rune)|amiibo Rune]]. Scanning the amiibo will drop various items from the sky, along with a treasure chest, which has a chance of containing Biggoron's Sword, but can also contain different items. The amiibo can only be scanned once per day.

Biggoron's Sword is a recurring sword in The Legend of Zelda series.

Ocarina of Time

"A huge, sturdy, and very sharp sword. You can't use a shield while wielding it."

Ocarina of Time 3D in-game description.

Biggoron's Sword is earned by completing a long Trading Sequence that involves time limits and other difficult obstacles, in the course of which Link obtains the Broken Goron's Sword, which Biggoron can reforge into his eponymous blade. Biggoron's Sword is so big it requires two hands to hold it—thus, Link is not able to use the Shield while using Biggoron's Sword. The trade-off for not being able to use a shield is that it does the most damage of any sword in the game; double that of the Master Sword. Additionally, unlike the otherwise-similar Giant's Knife, the blade is unbreakable.[1]

Oracle of Seasons

In Oracle of Seasons, Biggoron's Sword is a reward obtained in two ways. If Oracle of Seasons is the first of a Linked Game, then it is obtained from Biggoron atop Goron Mountain. Link then obtains a password to use in Oracle of Ages to obtain Biggoron's Sword there. If Oracle of Seasons is the second game of a Linked Game, then Biggoron's Sword is obtained by a password from Oracle of Ages.

Oracle of Ages

In Oracle of Ages, Biggoron's Sword is a reward obtained in two ways. If Oracle of Ages is the first of a Linked Game, then it is obtained from the Goron Elder at the Goron Shooting Gallery in the Past. Link then obtains a password to use in Oracle of Seasons to obtain Biggoron's Sword there. If Oracle of Ages is the second game of a Linked Game, then Biggoron's Sword is obtained by a password from Oracle of Seasons.

Breath of the Wild

"A legendary greatsword forged by a Goron craftsman for a hero who traveled through time. The exceptionally sharp cutting edge is a testament to the craftsman's mastery."

— In-game description
Biggoron's Sword icon from Breath of the Wild

Biggoron's Sword makes a reappearance in Breath of the Wild, this time as an amiibo exclusive, two-handed weapon. It has a base power of 50 and a durability of 60 (making it the most durable amiibo melee weapon in the game), and can be obtained by scanning a Link (Ocarina of Time) amiibo through the use of the amiibo Rune. Scanning the amiibo will drop various items from the sky, along with a treasure chest, which has a chance of containing Biggoron's Sword, but can also contain different items. The amiibo can only be scanned once per day.

Required amiibo

Tears of the Kingdom

Biggoron's Sword icon from Tears of the Kingdom

Biggoron's Sword can be found in the Akkala House of Bones, in the Deep Akkala Depths, beneath the Skull Lake Chasm. Link can reach the chamber by dropping through the chasm from the surface, or from the depths through a narrow pathway blocked by smashable rock midway up the wall just northwest of the Sikutamak Lightroot.

To open the chest which contains the sword, Link must defeat several Stalkoblins and Stalmoblins, and then a gloom-wreathed Stalnox. Once broken, this sword can be repurchased from a Bargainer Statue for 150 Poes. It can also be obtained by scanning Link (Ocarina of Time) amiibo.

Biggoron's Sword has a power of 38 (shown as 36), and is the most durable two-handed weapon in the game before fusions and weapon bonuses, with a durability of 60. Only the Lightscale Trident, a spear, has a higher durability (70) amongst weapons. However, Biggoron's Swords cannot have a weapon bonus—even feeding one to a Rock Octorok will have it immediately spit it back out unchanged, regardless of context.

Non-Canon Appearances

This section describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon.

Soulcalbur II

Biggoron's Sword is a weapon for Link in Soulcalibur II. Unusually, while still longer than the Master Sword, it is a one-handed rather than two-handed weapon.

Trivia

  • In Ocarina of Time (N64), the Giant's Knife and Biggoron's Sword are cosmetically identical. This was changed in Ocarina of Time 3D, such that the Giant's Knife has a brown leather grip and blue pommel and Biggoron's Sword has a white leather grip and gold pommel.
